Don’t expect to shoot low scores if you don’t practice

Its amazing how many golfers think that if they go to the range 5 days before a tournament, they will magically find that touch and feel required to shoot 65 on Thursday. Unfortunately, sorry to burst your bubble, but you won’t be playing very good competitive golf if that is the case. Manage your expectations if you can’t find the time to practice, therefore the disappointment won’t be as severe. I was at a junior golf tournament the other day and I overheard a young boy tell his mom, “Mom, I knew I can hit that shot from under the trees and land it softly, it just didn’t come out today.” The mother replies, “Son, how many times have you practiced that shot?” “Never.” Well there you have your answer, don’t expect the best outcome if it hasn’t been practiced before.

Do the best you can do in tight circumstances, but believe in what you know and not what you think you know.
